Self-Care

Sophie Elizabeth

As someone working in the wellbeing space, clients (and friends and family) often talk to me about how I maintain a good sense of balance, what good habits I have and what self care looks like (particularly important not to be a burnout mess msyelf when I'm supporting others to also not become one!)

So I made a list!

1. Fresh air in the mornings, come rain or shine - normally in the form of a dog walk for me.

2. Reading - both fiction for pleasure and non-fiction for personal growth

3. Movement - small and regular. Rather than day long hikes (though I like them too), I focus on small and regular movement - things like parking on the far side of the car park, always walking to the shops instead of taking the car and regular doggy play breaks!

4. Regular planned adventures - the impact of having something positive and exciting in the diary to look forward to cannot be underestimated!

5. connection

6. phone away - trying to reduce screen time - when I'm with my loved ones

7. pet cuddles

8. Boundaried work/life - don't have work emails on my phone, have set hours in which I respond to client queries

9. Meal prep - lots of veggies

10. Lots of rest without feeling guilty - despite people saying I'm one of the busiest people they know, I've always got time for netflix and a nap

11. Prioritise sleep

12. Therapy when needed- I feel and process my feelings as they come up - conversations with friends all the time

What are your self-care practices? I'd love to hear more :)
