What drives Therapeutic Change?

Firstly, what is therapeutic change?
This is an interesting graphic and piece of research; findings suggest that the main driver of therapeutic change (and in turn effectiveness of counselling & therapy) is the client - not the counsellor or orientation (type of therapy).
Clients often arrive at counselling looking to be 'fixed' or for me to give them a quick solution, and this demonstrates that this isn't how counselling works. Client motivation and engagement with the process are so important; I am there to facilitate exploration and help raise awareness but the client does all the hard work.
I will never not be in awe of how hard clients work to get to feeling better, and it's such a privilege to be able to share in that process with them ⭐
