An integrative counsellor is one that integrates different counselling theories together. There are many different counselling theories out there - main ones that you might have heard of include Psychodynamic theory, Transactional Analysis, Person Centred counselling and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, plus many more.
There isn't a specific mix for an integrative therapist - it's a general term for somebody who uses more than one theory and depends on how they have been training.
I am an integrative counsellor, using:
🩵 Person Centred Counselling
🩵 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
🩵 Gestalt Therapy
🩵 Positive Psychology ideas and some coaching tools
Research shows that the relationship between the client and counsellor, and the client's engagement and motivation in therpay are both more important than the type of counselling, but it is still something to consider.
