Whose Timeline are you on?

We grow up surrounded by an invisible checklist: go to school, get a job, buy a house, get married, have kids, climb the ladder, but where does this checklist even come from? It's evolved over the years, but evolution is not always a good thing (evolution of mobile phones - great, evolution of the size of cadburys cream eggs - terrible!)
The life checklist should perhaps be viewed as less of an evolution and more of a cultural conditioning.
What happens if those milestones don’t fit? We're left feeling behind, like the odd one out or like we're failing somehow, and then what...?! These people often end up in my therapy room :(
Here's the thing though, they're not failing - they're living.
There isn’t a single timeline for a meaningful life.
Some people thrive on the conventional path.
Others thrive outside of it.
Both are valid.
💡A helpful trick is to ask yourself whether you're chasing a goal because it's really what you want, or because it's what society says? (Now I've got the Spice Girls in my head - tell me what you want, what you really really want!)
Your path doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s. In fact, the more it looks like yours, the more fulfilling it will be.
